Who are you, anyway?I've been filking since the early 80s, attended the first OVFF and first FKO, and have been a member of the filk group Urban Tapestry since it was formed in 1993. In addition to Urban Tapestry's three albums, I have also been involved with other filk recording projects. If you must know more, you can check out my online journal or my personal homepage.
When was The Dandelion Report created? The Dandelion Report was launched on March 17th, 2001.
Why did you begin The Dandelion Report? My purpose in creating The Dandelion Report is to provide a friendly environment for the filking community to network, find information, and improve their craft, to highlight various filkers within the community. New filkers may find the jargon and filk circle etiquette confusing...one of the main goals of The Dandelion Report is to provide basic information for those new to filking, as well as address questions frequently asked by the filk community in general. In the Dandelion Report Filk FAQ, I wanted to create a moderated environment combining community participation with editorial opinion. Basically, everyone is encouraged to toss in their two cents, and in the end I try to write up a summary as well as including my own take on the issue or topic. This FAQ should *not* be regarded as being definitive, but only as a rough guide. My personal reason for creating this resource? I've gotten so much enjoyment out of filking over the years, and I wanted to do something for the filk community in return.
Who funds The Dandelion Report?I do. At present, the cost is minimal; most of my investment is in time. Unless a zillion people suddenly decide to become filkers and descend on the message boards on an hourly basis, I don't anticipate a problem. Many thanks to Bryan Fullerton for hosting the Dandelion Report, and to the many members of the filk community who have contributed their time, suggestions, and information to this site. How can I help?- By telling people about the site, especially those new to filk. - If you're an experienced filker, then please do participate in the FilkFAQ polls (look for "*** CURRENT POLL***"). - If you'd like to contribute an interview or article, please let me know. - If have a suggestion on how to make this site more useful for the filking community, please let me know.
