Pam Hansell, Self-Publishing Editor

Dear Inkspot Self-Publishing Center Visitors,

It seems longer than just last summer when I began editing the Self-Publishing Center on Inkspot. In the brief time I worked with Inkspot Editor-in-Chief Debbie Ridpath Ohi and her talented staff I had grown so comfortable and felt so supported that if felt as if I had been involved with Inkspot for years, not months.

Since my background was in traditional book publishing, Debbie entrusted me with developing a new section, self-publishing, and offered me unconditional support and encouragement as this new section grew. What I learned soon after the Self-Publishing Center was up and running was that visitors to Inkspot took after Debbie. I met amazing people with wonderful stories who were supportive and talented and generous and kind.

Support and encouragement became somewhat of a theme running through all of the work I was involved with at Inkspot, and I hope it is a theme that continues in my work and in my life.

The time has come that Inkspot can no longer be funded, and will not exist as it has. Because of this I wanted very much to thank you. Thank you for visiting here and offering your ideas, advice, and enthusiasm. Thank you for subscribing to The Pub. Thank you to all who submitted articles, essays, and interviews.

It’s an exciting time to be a writer, perhaps the most exciting time. It’s been great to see so many writers self-publishing their manuscripts and working hard to get the most out of this experience. Whether the goal was to sell a million copies, or simply pass along memoirs to family and friends, the self-published authors I’ve met have constantly inspired me. I hope that in return I was able to provide information and encouragement. That was my goal.

Goodbye, good luck, and again, thank you.

Sincerely,
Pam Hansell
Editor
